LIKE ME! LIKE ME! Social Media and My Truth

A few years ago I decided to completely delete my Facebook. Recently, I made a new account so that I could enter giveaways. In order to win a prize, you usually have to like someone’s Facebook page and do a list of other things to be entered.

I did not get a Facebook page to check up on “old friends” and waste time watching videos or any other nonsense.  I just wanted to win a prize. I’m over the giveaway phase and the page is deleted again.

I am on instagram, and I feel some-type-of-way about being too exposed on any social media platform, so I deleted a lot of photos of me and my family and left photos of places and things. I mostly take pictures of food ( when I remember). And then I started thinking...why? Why am I posting pictures? Only 5 people I connect with on instagram are family/friends and everyone else are complete strangers. So, I’m posting photos for other people to like- to somehow satisfy my need for acceptance.

There have been many times in my life where I’ve needed to step back and evaluate how I use my time. It’s that time right now that I get honest. I have to say that I’ve been spending too much time on social media. Instagram for sure. I also have a Twitter but I honestly use that for news updates. The whole world is on twitter, Local news, international news and other issues/causes that are import to me. I can’t say the same for instagram, I’ve deleted my Instagram account once before about 2 years ago. I may have to delete it again for good. Besides, who cares what I had for dinner?
