Kylie In The City...A Mormon Romance?

Kylie In The City by Laura Keysor is a novella and not at all a full-length novel. Surprisingly, it is about three young Mormon women living in New York City. It was listed under Christian romance on amazon.com, which I've found to have a very broad labeling system. I actually contacted them about having a specific title moved out of the Christian section.

Anyway, This book was cute and had many elements of a youth novel. It would have been nice to have the main  character Kylie fully-developed and mature. Instead, she was immature and inexperienced. She was educated and had been working as an attorney in New York but had the persona of a 16yr boy-crazed girl. There was also a bit of competition much like that of adolescent girls; a lot of he-said-she-said and other silly immature antics.

Kylie's character did not have any real world experience, or any man/woman relationship experience and that's why I did not relate to the story. It was like the author was stuck between a young girl and a young woman which explains why the character rounded out to be around 16. Actually the story would be a little more realistic if the author had just gone ahead and made the main character a youth. Instead, she wasn't a kid all the way but at the same time she was far from being a woman.

This is a very short read, I think I finished in an hour. It is part of a series so the story continues in the next book...novella. Free on amazon.com
